God's Plan of Salvation

WHAT IF there is life after death?

The Bible says there is…

  • Hebrews 9:27 “And as it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment:”

WHAT IF we will stand before God and be judged according to our lives?

The Bible says we will…

  • Matthew 12:36 “But I say unto you, That every idle word that men shall speak, they shall give account thereof in the day of judgment. “

  • Romans 14:11-12 “For it is written, As I live, saith the Lord, every knee shall bow to me, and every tongue shall confess to God. So then every one of us shall give account of himself to God.”

  • Ecclesiastes 12:14 “For God shall bring every work into judgment, with every secret thing, whether it be good, or whether it be evil”

WHAT IF when we stand before God in judgment, we are held to a standard of Holiness or Perfection?

The Bible says we will be… our righteousness must meet the standards of Jesus Christ.

  • Romans 2:16 “In the day when God shall judge the secrets of men by Jesus Christ according to my Gospel.”

  • I John 1:5 “This then is the message which we have heard of him, and declare unto you, that God is light, and in him is no darkness at all.”

  • Acts 17:31 “Because he hath appointed a day, in the which he will judge the world in righteousness by that man whom he hath ordained; whereof he hath given assurance unto all men, in that he hath raised him from the dead.”

WHAT IF it were impossible for you to meet the standard of Holiness?

The Bible says it is… We are all sinners.

  • Romans 3:10 “As it is written, There is none righteous, no, not one:”

  • Romans 3:23 “For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;”

  • Every person on this earth is a sinner. This includes everyone from the Pope to the President to me….and to you. We have ALL sinned and come short of the glory of God (our Creator).

WHAT IF God is so perfect in judgment that he required EVERY sin to be paid for? And WHAT IF our
sins are going to keep up from the presence of God and into death and hell?

The Bible says they will…

  • Psalm 5:4-5 “For thou art not a God that hath pleasure in wickedness: neither shall evil dwell with thee. The foolish shall not stand in thy sight: thou hatest all workers of iniquity.”

  • Romans 1:18 “For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who hold the truth in unrighteousness;”

  • Romans 6:23 “For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.”

  • Revelation 20:13-15  “And the sea gave up the dead which were in it; and death and hell delivered up the dead which were in them: and they were judged every man according to their works. And death and hell were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death. And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire.”

  • Sins are basically laws or instructions that have been given to us that have been either broken or not followed. Where did the laws come from? Our designer, God. He passed down laws and instructions to us in the Bible. He tells us that if we don’t obey those laws, then we will be accountable to God. Payment must be made for every sin.

WHAT IF God knew we had no hope, so he made it possible to have the ONLY perfect person (his
own Son) pay our sin debt?

The Bible says HE DID…

  • I John 4:10 “Herein is love, not that we loved God, but that he loved us, and sent his Son to be the propitiation (payment) for our sins”

  • John 3:16 “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.”

  • Romans 5:8 “But God commendeth (proves) his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.”

  • Romans 6:23 “For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.”

  • I John 5:11 “And this is the record, that God hath given to us eternal life, and this life is in his Son.”

  • God loves us, but he has given us free will to decide what we will do. We have to believe in him by faith. What is the cost to us? Nothing! Jesus Christ, God’s son, paid the debt for us. All we have to do is trust on him.

WHAT IF We choose not to believe? Does it affect us now?

The Bible says it does… Without Christ, we are condemned already, and the wrath of God abides on us now.

  • John 3:17-18 “For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved. He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.”

  • John 3:36 “He that believeth on the Son hath everlasting life: and he that believeth not the Son shall not see life; but the wrath of God abideth on him."

WHAT IF we want to accept Christ, but wait until later?

The Bible says we aren’t guaranteed that time…

  • Proverbs 27:1 “Boast not thyself of to morrow; for thou knowest not what a day may bring forth.”

  • James 4:14 “Whereas ye know not what shall be on the morrow. For what is your life? It is even a vapour, that appeareth for a little time, and then vanisheth away.”

WHAT IF we try to earn our way to God through our own good works?

The Bible says we can’t…

  • Proverb 16:25 “There is a way that seemeth right unto a man, but the end thereof are the ways of death."

  • James 2:10 “For whosoever shall keep the whole law, and yet offend in one point, he is guilty of all.”

  • Ephesians 2:8-9 “For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast.”

  • Titus 3:5 “Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us, by the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Ghost;”

  • John 14:6 “Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.”

  • Jesus is the ONLY way to Heaven. Our righteousness will not get us there.

  • Acts 4:12 “Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved.”

WHAT IF you wanted to be saved right now?

The Bible says YOU CAN!…

  • Romans 10:9-10 “That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.”

  • Romans 10:13 “For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.”

  • If you will humble yourself before God and call out to Him for forgiveness of your sin, trusting fully in what Jesus did for you on the cross, God promised that HE WILL SAVE YOU from your sin!

WHAT IF we’ve done some really bad things? Can we still be saved?

The Bible says we can…

  • Revelation 3:20 “Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if ANY MAN hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me.”

  • II Peter 3:9 “The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.”

  • ANY MAN can be saved. Does this mean that all of the problems in your life will now magically go away? No, a sinful life leaves scars, Does this mean you will be perfect? No. You are not perfect. You will never be perfect in this life. You have a sinful nature. But you ARE forgiven. You are still a sinner, but now you are saved by the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ.

WHAT IF we can be 100% sure of our salvation?

The Bible says we can…

  • I John 5:10-12 “He that believeth on the Son of God hath the witness in himself: he that believeth not God hath made him a liar; because he believeth not the record that God gave of his Son. And this is the record, that God hath given to us eternal life, and this life is in his Son. He that hath the Son hath life; and he that hath not the Son of God hath not life.”

  • Do you believe that Jesus Christ was the son of God and that he can cleanse you from your sins? Have you confessed to him that you are a sinner? If you said yes, then you are saved.

  • I John 5:13 “These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life, and that ye may believe on the name of the Son of God.”

  • John 3:18 “He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.”

  • John 3:36 “He that believeth on the Son hath everlasting life: and he that believeth not the Son shall not see life; but the wrath of God abideth on him."

WHAT IF we sin again? Can we lose our salvation?

The Bible says we can't...

  • II Timothy 1:12 “For the which cause I also suffer these things: nevertheless I am not ashamed: for I know whom I have believed, and am persuaded that he is able to keep that which I have committed unto him against that day.”

  • Ephesians 4:30 “And grieve not the holy Spirit of God, whereby ye are sealed unto the day of redemption.”

  • Philippians 1:6 “Being confident of this very thing, that he which hath begun a good work in you will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ:”

  • The Lord Jesus Christ will keep YOU until the day of redemption. You are sealed. You can not lose your salvation.

  • John 5:24 “Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that heareth my word, and believeth on him that sent me, hath everlasting life, and shall not come into condemnation; but is passed from death unto life.”

  • John 6:47 “Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me hath everlasting life.”

  • What is the expiration date on “everlasting”? It is life that lasts forever!

WHAT IF we keep sinning?

According to the Bible, we can. But the Lord can give us the victory over sin...

  • Romans 7:25 “I thank God through Jesus Christ our Lord. So then with the mind I myself serve the law of God; but with the flesh the law of sin.”

  • I John 1:8-10 “If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. If we say that we have not sinned, we make him a liar, and his word is not in us.”

  • Yes, you will sin again. Your soul is now saved, but your flesh still has its sinful nature. In eternity you will be given a new body which is sinless, but while you are on this earth, you will have to contend with the flesh and its law of sin. If we will confess our sins to Jesus and ask him to forgive us, he promises to do so.

NOW, what do we do with our life?

The Bible answers that too…

  1. Maintain a personal relationship with the Lord through prayer and Bible reading…

    • I John 1:3 “That which we have seen and heard declare we unto you, that ye also may have fellowship with us: and truly our fellowship is with the Father, and with his Son Jesus Christ.”

    • I Corinthians 1:9 “God is faithful, by whom ye were called unto the fellowship of his Son Jesus Christ our Lord.”

    • II Corinthians 13:14 “The grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, and the love of God, and the communion of the Holy Ghost, be with you all. Amen.”

  2. Faithfully attend a Bible believing and preaching church…

    • Hebrews 10:25 “Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is; but exhorting one another: and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching.”

    • Matthew 18:20 “For where two or three are gathered together in my name, there am I in the midst of them.”

  3. Personally Study the Bible…

    • II Timothy 2:15 “Study to show thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.”

  4. Tell Others about our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ…

    • I Corinthians 1:17-18 “For Christ sent me not to baptize, but to preach the gospel: not with wisdom of words, lest the cross of Christ should be made of none effect. For the preaching of the cross is to them that perish foolishness; but unto us which are saved it is the power of God.”

    • Romans 1:16 “For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek.”

    • Mark 16:15 “And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature.”
